Olives History

 

The edible olive has been cultivated for at least 5,000 to 6,000 years, with the most ancient evidence of olive cultivation having been found in the island of Crete in the Mediterranean region dating back as 3500 BC. The cultivation of the olive is as old as the civilizations that encircle the Mediterranean Sea.
